Adventurous Southern Oregon Coast Elopement near Brookings

Carmen and Madison had a beautiful elopement along the windswept southern coast of Oregon. They’ve been living the nomad life, traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest and along the west coast in their RV. During their travels, they fell in love with the Oregon Coast (who could blame them?!), especially the southern coast, and decided that’s where they wanted to have their elopement.

We spent their elopement day visiting three different locations in Samuel Boardman State Park and a couple of other spots nearby. Samuel Boardman State Park is a 12-mile rugged stretch of forested coastline in southern Oregon. Lying just north of Brookings, the park is home to hundred year old spruce trees, rocky bluffs, and secluded beach coves. There are so many incredible elopement spots in the park including Arch Rock, Secret Beach, and the Natural Bridges. With stunning views, Samuel Boardman State Park is a dream elopement location for any adventure-loving couple.

We started the day at one of the best elopement locations in Samuel Boardman State Park, Secret Beach, where they had their ceremony. Secret Beach is an amazing elopement spot. The beach itself is nestled in a secluded cove surrounded by a towering rocky coastline. To access it, you can take a short, somewhat steep, but totally-worth-it hike down to the cove for the most incredible oceanfront vistas.

At Secret Beach, Carmen and Madison chose to have a very intimate ceremony just the two of them (and me, of course!). What made their ceremony super special is that not only was I their elopement photographer, but I also married them! It was such an honor to be a part of that moment. As an elopement photographer, I’m always happy to serve my couples in whatever way they need me, whether you just want me to be your photographer or your officiant too!

After their ceremony, we went on an adventure along the coast! For our second location, we went to a really cool dune area within the park. It was super windy but we had so much fun exploring. The golden dunes and windswept grass of this location were absolutely gorgeous and Carmen and Madison were filled with joy.

Before the day ended, we made our way to one last spot to catch the sunset. Dramatic basalt stacks dotted the coastline, making a perfect backdrop for our last photos as the sun peeked through. Carmen and Madison were the cutest and sweetest couple and I’m so grateful to have been a part of their day.

Eloping along the Southern Oregon Coast

The southern Oregon Coast is characterized by jagged and mountainous terrain with no shortage of breathtaking elopement locations.

Where to Elope: Samuel Boardman State Park

Situated along the southern Oregon Coast, Samuel Boardman State Park encompasses 12 miles of rocky shores and densely forested coastline. This place is filled to the brim with epic elopement spots and unbeatable vistas. Arch Rock, Secret Beach, and the Natural Bridges are some of the most beautiful places in the park to elope. And of course secret locations I only share with my couples!

When to Elope: September to mid-October

Locals refer to this time of year as the “second summer.” Early fall is known to be one of the best times to visit the Oregon Coast. Temperatures hover in the 60s and 70s, and the days are usually sunnier and less windy. Summer crowds have also dwindled and accommodations are typically less expensive.

Where to Stay: Brookings

Just south of Samuel Boardman State Park, lies the city of Brookings. Its proximity to the southern coast makes it the perfect home base for your coastal elopement. There are plenty of unique airbnbs, beachfront inns, and cozy campsites to book for your stay.
