Maui Adventure Elopement near Kahakuloa Hawaii

Crystal and Steve knew that a big traditional wedding wasn’t right for them. They’re both not a fan of being the center of attention and spending a lot of money on frivolous things. Their family and friends had a hard time understanding why they wanted to elope, but for them a private Maui adventure elopement was their dream. I think it’s important to stay true to what you want for your wedding day despite what others may think. There can be a lot of pressure in our society to have a big wedding, and I hope my photography can help inspire future couples to have the wedding day of their dreams.

They also decided not to have a minister during their ceremony. They wanted it to be just the two of them sharing their vows privately on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. I absolutely LOVED this idea. It made the whole experience super intimate and unique. Then they celebrated by popping champagne and going on an adventure with me!

Crystal and Steve had originally planned to elope in Norway, but their plans changed and they decided on Maui and an extended vacation enjoying our magical island. They told me they wanted something different than the usual Hawaiian beach and I knew exactly where I wanted to take them near Kahakuloa. And let me tell youuu, it was perfect. We had this spot all to ourselves. You just never know on an island, especially with the holiday approaching. So happy to be a part of your day you two! Thank you for including me on your very special day. :)

Van and Bea's Honeymoon Adventure Session in Kapalua, Hawaii

Van and Bea were married in Philadelphia and flew to Maui for their honeymoon earlier this year. They decided to book a honeymoon adventure session in Kapalua with me to celebrate! They brought their wedding clothes with them, so they would have a large variety of wedding photos. City vibes from their wedding day and natural tropical vibes from their honeymoon. I loved that idea!

My good friend Barbara photographed their wedding and she referred me to this awesome couple when they mentioned they were coming to Maui. Barbara is a super talented photographer based on the east coast. We met at the Forest and Falls workshop a couple years ago and have stayed in touch over the years. One of my favorite aspects of attending workshops is meeting other talented creatives. Definitely check her out if you’re in need of a wedding photographer in Maryland or on the east coast!

We decided to explore Honolua jungle and Ironwoods Beach on the west side of Maui near Kapalua. The jungle there is like a fairytale wonderland and Ironwoods Beach is such an epic spot for cliffside photos at sunset. These two locations are perfect for Maui adventure sessions and creates a nice variety for my adventurous clients. Congrats you two! Hope to see you again next time your visiting Maui!

Jess + Kiama's Kauai Adventure Session

I photographed Jess and Kiama’s wedding in San Diego, California in May of this year. It was a small, intimate wedding with their family and close friends. They rented a beautiful house overlooking a gorgeous lagoon. It was a cool, overcast day which I wasn’t expecting for that part of California. I always thought it was sunny year round! Apparently May in San Diego is referred to as “May gray.” It was still beautiful and was perfect for their wedding celebration.

After their wedding, they flew to Kauai for their honeymoon. They decided to book an adventure session to celebrate while they were there. I’m always excited to hop over to Kauai for weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions. It’s definitely my other favorite island, after Maui of course. ;) Kauai is such a magical island filled with hidden gems and epic overlooks that are a photographer’s dream.

The day of our shoot the weather was a little crazy, which can be common for Kauai. It’s actually one of the rainiest places on earth, with an average rainfall of 400 inches annually at Mount Waialeale. That’s a lot of rain! We had originally planned to shoot at Kalalau Lookout but it was dumping rain, so we decided to explore Waimea Canyon. It ended up being the perfect location. The light was gorgeous and we had this spot all to ourselves. I love it when my clients can enjoy these special places in solitude. Thank you so much Jess and Kiama for a fun adventure on Kauai! Can’t wait to come visit you in New York City some day. :)
