Yosemite National Park Engagement Session | Yosemite Elopement Photographer

yosemite national park engagement session

Lindsay and Griffin contacted me this summer to book a California adventure session to celebrate their recent engagement. They saw on my travel schedule that I would be in Truckee, California during the month of August, but unfortunately our dates didn't match up so we had to plan for another time. We were determined to make it happen! They were planning a backpacking trip to explore Half Dome in Yosemite National Park in September, and we decided it was the perfect time to meet up for their photo session!

I absolutely love Yosemite and it ended up being the perfect time of year to explore the national park. The air was crisp and the leaves were starting to change. It was such a warm autumn vibe! Definitely missing that here in Maui right now as I sit here typing in the eighty five degree weather. :) Taft Point is such an epic spot to experience the grandeur of Yosemite. It offers a wide variety of backdrops, so that my clients receive a complete collection of photographs from their intimate session. We hiked through a moss covered, old growth forest and finished their session on the edge of the cliffs overlooking Yosemite Valley. It was such a fun adventure. Taft point is absolutely incredible and one of my favorite viewpoints of the park.

One of my favorite aspects of adventure sessions is getting to know my clients on a deeper level. I truly cherish connecting with my clients in this way, and enjoying the beauty of nature while we explore is icing on the cake. I love my job so much and I’m so grateful to all of you that trust me to capture your love.

Thank you SO much for a fun adventure you two! Huge congrats on your engagement and hope to see you again next time I’m in California! Hopefully I’ll be back soon to photograph a Yosemite adventure elopement. :)

Review from Lindsay after receiving her full collection of photographs :)

"Naomi is phenomenal, bottom line.
From our initial contact to the delivery of our pictures, Naomi was so wonderful to work with. She was extremely flexible when we wanted to do an adventure engagement session somewhere scenic in California; initially offering to fit us into her time in Truckee and then agreeing to meet us in Yosemite. She offered great advice on my outfit choices and gave me a few locations to choose from that would provide us with epic backdrops.
Hiking out to our location allowed us to really get to know Naomi. She is a caring, adventurous person and someone who I felt comfortable with. During the pictures, she laughed with us when we did silly things and truly was happy witnessing and capturing the little moments we shared. It didn't feel like "business;" it felt like spending time with an old friend.
Her talent for creating candid moments between the couple really shined through in our photos. We felt that each picture incorporated "us" and did not feel rehearsed or uncomfortable. We had FUN - and this is amazing, given that my fiancé hates when attention is on him.
We received our pictures quicker than expected and they are so incredible. I am having a hard time narrowing down my favorites and trying to pick which one(s) we want to print and hang up around the house. Seriously, we LOVE them all. They are epic, and beautiful, and everything you want in an engagement photo (plus so much more).
Look no further for someone who will add joy and beauty to your day and find a way to capture "you" as you are, in the process."

Rock Climbing Adventure Wedding in Truckee, California

Meghan and John contacted me last year to photograph their wedding on Lake Mary near Truckee, California. When they told me they wanted to incorporate their passion for rock climbing into their couple's photos I knew it was going to be an epic experience and that we were destined to work together. This would definitely be the most adventurous adventure wedding I've ever photographed! I was stoked. I'm not a rock climber but I've always dreamed of trying and the spot they had picked out near Sugar Bowl resort was breathtaking.

Before the shoot I was filled with nervous excitement. My hands were clammy and my heart was thumping. When I stood on the edge of the cliff and they told me to lean back I was a lil nervous, but had to trust and have faith that all would be okay. Huge shout out to Andy Anders for his help and expertise, and Ali for being with me every step of the climb; they definitely helped me capture the adventurous bride and groom in their full glory. I finally leaned into it and immediately felt relaxed and inspired by the views of Donner Lake. For experienced climbers this was an easy climb but for me it was a lifetime accomplishment, and to combine it with my photography career was indescribable. This experience inspired me so much, I took my first rock climbing lesson in Yosemite National Park a few weeks later! I was there for an engagement adventure session, so it was the perfect opportunity to learn how to climb in one of the most amazing climbing destinations in the world.

Sending a huge thanks to the crew that made this shoot possible. It was quite the production and wouldn’t have been the same without the team there to help. You guys made it SO much fun and super special for Meghan and John. I’m beyond grateful to all of you for such an incredible experience.

If you're looking for an adventurous wedding or elopement photographer that will hang on the edge of a cliff to get the shot, I'm yo girl. :)

Off the Beaten Path Maui Vow Renewal | Hui Aloha Church

Off the Beaten Path Maui Vow Renewal

when tammy contacted me for her maui vow renewal i knew we were going to be a good fit.  she wanted something different.  something epic.  something off the beaten path.  when she was visiting maui years ago she remembered coming across a private church on the road to hana.  it was a special time for her and her hubby during their trip to maui.  they were touched by the history of the church and the beauty of its location, perched on a cliff above the rugged coastline of kaupo.  i had driven by huialoha church a few times, but had never stopped to check it out.  i decided to scout the location after talking to tammy and i fell in love immediately.  it was amazing, and definitely epic.  we called the church to receive permission to have their vow renewal there, and they welcomed us with open arms.

the sun was shining, there was a lovely ocean breeze, amazing rainbow blessings, and we had the church all to ourselves.  tammy was full of laughter and beaming with joy throughout the afternoon.  her smile was infectious.  such a special day that i will always cherish.   love these moments i share with my clients.  thank you tammy.  see ya in san fran one day. :)

if you're getting married and have an epic location in mind that's off the beaten path, in maui or anywhere else in the world, then i'm yo girl. ;)
