Eloping in cANNON BEACH OREGON – Frequently Asked Questions

June through September usually bring the warmest weather but are also the most popular months. If you’re looking for a little more privacy, one of the best times to visit the Oregon Coast is from September to mid-October—during what locals refer to as the “second summer.” With temperatures hovering in the 60s and 70s, you’ll find that the days are sunnier and less windy during this time. No matter what time of year you decide, just be ready to embrace whatever Mother Nature might throw your way. Afterall, Oregon weather can be rainy and unpredictable, but that’s part of what makes it such a beautiful place!

Popular destinations can get busy on the weekends, especially during the summer. For that reason, weekday elopements are usually best. With that being said, if you prefer to elope on a weekend, we can get creative with locations off-the-beaten path to make it happen!

The best time of day to elope is around sunrise or sunset. The light during these times makes for the most beautiful photos. Plus, many locations are less crowded during the early morning and late evening.

Aside from your wedding dress and attire, a rain-proof jacket or warm sweater is recommended since there’s always a chance of cooler or unpredictable weather. Hiking shoes or boots (or barefoot!) are usually a good idea for most locations – you can always change into different shoes for your ceremony. Some other fun ideas include a bottle of champagne, a blanket or scarf, cute denim or leather jacket, and clear umbrellas in case of rainy weather.

You’ll need to apply for a marriage license in Oregon. To apply for a marriage license, you can visit any of Oregon’s county clerk’s offices to complete your application and sign your license. This must be done at least 3 days prior to your elopement and no earlier than 60 days beforehand. The cost of a marriage license is $60.

If you don’t live in Oregon, you and your partner can apply for your marriage license online, but you’ll still need to visit an Oregon county clerk’s office to complete and sign your license. The same time frames apply so be sure you visit the clerk’s office at least 3 days prior to your elopement ceremony.

You can apply for a license in any Oregon county, but after you’re married, you’ll need to submit the license to the same county that issued it. Your officiant should be able to help you with this if needed. Another important thing to note is that in addition to your signed marriage license, you’ll need at least two witnesses (don’t worry, your photographer counts!) present during your elopement. And we can always ask a fellow hiker on the trail. :)

FIFTY TREES PLANTED FOR EVERY SHOOT BOOKED

When I became a photographer I knew that I wanted to utilize my passion to make a positive impact in the world.  Throughout my career I have volunteered for non-profits but I want to do more.  I want to have a greater impact on our beautiful planet.  Nature is where I find my peace, joy and inspiration and I want my business to reflect my passion for the environment.    I am very excited about my partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects .  Eden reduces extreme poverty and restores healthy forests in Nepal, Madagascar, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique and Kenya by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year.  Fifty trees are planted for every shoot booked with Naomi Levit Photography.

“Working with Naomi is such a gift. We planned our west coast elopement from the east coast, and Naomi helped us sort out and plan all the details with no stress. On the day of, we were buzzing with nerves all morning and afternoon. When Naomi showed up to our AirBnB, it felt like taking a deep breath. We were immediately calmed and were able to start having fun. Naomi made sure we were having fun and honoring what we wanted the entire time. And the PHOTOS are the most breath taking photos ever! We will treasure them forever.”
