What is an adventure wedding or elopement?

Eloping doesn’t mean secretly running off to the courthouse anymore. It’s an intentional wedding day that is authentically focused on who you are as a couple. It’s an opportunity to create a meaningful experience to begin your journey together as a couple. You may want to say your vows with your intimate family on a mountaintop or have an epic adventure flying in a helicopter to explore Oregon’s majestic coastline. It can literally be anything your heart desires! How cool is that?!

Hey friends! I’m Naomi your new Cape Kiwanda Oregon adventure buddy :)

I’m granola AF with a lil’ bit of woowoo sprinkled in. I’m an outdoorsy, nature loving human who is absolutely in LOVE with adventure elopements and small weddings. Nothing makes me happier than a day filled with adventures in wild places getting my feet dirty and breathing the fresh air.

Whether it’s in the mountains, the forest, or on the beach I am here for ALL of it! I’m a mountain gal but I’m also a beach gal, so I split my time between Alaska, Oregon, and Hawaii. Why You Should Elope in Cape Kiwanda Oregon

This sandstone headland just north of Pacific City offers one of the best viewpoints on the Oregon coast. It’s one of three locations along the Three Capes Scenic Route (along with Cape Meares and Cape Lookout). The steep climb up the massive dune will be rewarded with huge waves smashing into rugged, twisting rocks and crevices. The fragile nature of sandstone means the ocean is constantly eroding and re-sculpting the entire scene, right before your eyes.

Weather in Cape Kiwanda Oregon

Weather along the coast is often cool and wet with much of the rain falling between late October and early May. Spring sees frequent rainfall and temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Summers are nice with warmer and drier days and highs in the 60s and 70s. Often referred to locals as the “second summer,” fall is one of the most beautiful times of year with sunnier, warmer, and calmer days. Winter brings coastal storms with rain, wind, and crashing waves, but at times can bring sunny days with temperatures in the mid-50s.

Getting To Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City

Eloping in PACIFIC CITY OREGON – Frequently Asked Questions

June through September usually bring the warmest weather but are also the most popular months. If you’re looking for a little more privacy, one of the best times to visit the Oregon Coast is from September to mid-October—during what locals refer to as the “second summer.” With temperatures hovering in the 60s and 70s, you’ll find that the days are sunnier and less windy during this time. No matter what time of year you decide, just be ready to embrace whatever Mother Nature might throw your way. Afterall, Oregon weather can be rainy and unpredictable, but that’s part of what makes it such a beautiful place!

Popular destinations can get busy on the weekends, especially during the summer. For that reason, weekday elopements are usually best. With that being said, if you prefer to elope on a weekend, we can get creative with locations off-the-beaten path to make it happen!

The best time of day to elope is around sunrise or sunset. The light during these times makes for the most beautiful photos. Plus, many locations are less crowded during the early morning and late evening.

Aside from your wedding dress and attire, a rain-proof jacket or warm sweater is recommended since there’s always a chance of cooler or unpredictable weather. Hiking shoes or boots (or barefoot!) are usually a good idea for most locations – you can always change into different shoes for your ceremony. Some other fun ideas include a bottle of champagne, a blanket or scarf, cute denim or leather jacket, and clear umbrellas in case of rainy weather.

You’ll need to apply for a marriage license in Oregon. To apply for a marriage license, you can visit any of Oregon’s county clerk’s offices to complete your application and sign your license. This must be done at least 3 days prior to your elopement and no earlier than 60 days beforehand. The cost of a marriage license is $60.

If you don’t live in Oregon, you and your partner can apply for your marriage license online, but you’ll still need to visit an Oregon county clerk’s office to complete and sign your license. The same time frames apply so be sure you visit the clerk’s office at least 3 days prior to your elopement ceremony.

You can apply for a license in any Oregon county, but after you’re married, you’ll need to submit the license to the same county that issued it. Your officiant should be able to help you with this if needed. Another important thing to note is that in addition to your signed marriage license, you’ll need at least two witnesses (don’t worry, your photographer counts!) present during your elopement. And we can always ask a fellow hiker on the trail. :)

FIFTY TREES PLANTED FOR EVERY SHOOT BOOKED

When I became a photographer I knew that I wanted to utilize my passion to make a positive impact in the world.  Throughout my career I have volunteered for non-profits but I want to do more.  I want to have a greater impact on our beautiful planet.  Nature is where I find my peace, joy and inspiration and I want my business to reflect my passion for the environment.    I am very excited about my partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects .  Eden reduces extreme poverty and restores healthy forests in Nepal, Madagascar, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique and Kenya by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year.  Fifty trees are planted for every shoot booked with Naomi Levit Photography.

“Naomi is an extremely talented professional. She’s exactly what you would want for a small intimate wedding (like ours) on the Oregon coast. She knows the lighting, angles, lenses, and settings for the perfect shot. She’s also non-intrusive so you can focus on the event itself rather than capturing the event. Beautiful work by a beautiful human being. 10/10 would recommend.”
