Gorgeous Intimate Wedding at Smith Rock State Park in Central Oregon

This was day two of Kiley and Garrett’s wedding celebration in Central Oregon this past summer. You can see their private sunrise adventure at Sparks Lake near Bend –> here. After an incredible first day, their intimate wedding ceremony at Smith Rock State Park was nothing short of magical. From the moment we first connected, it felt like we had known each other forever. By the time their elopement weekend arrived, we weren’t just photographer and clients—we were friends. Honestly we felt like family. That sense of ease and connection made their entire experience feel even more special, like we were just a group of old friends adventuring together in one of the most stunning places on earth.

After an unforgettable first day spent exploring the peaceful, glassy waters of Sparks Lake, day two was all about embracing the magic of Smith Rock State Park with their loved ones. Surrounded by towering rock formations and golden desert light, their intimate ceremony felt like something out of a dream. The Crooked River carved its way through the canyon below, and a quiet stillness filled the air as they exchanged vows, completely wrapped up in the moment.

Because we had built such a strong connection leading up to their wedding day, everything felt so effortless—like I wasn’t just capturing their love story, but truly experiencing it alongside them. We laughed, explored, and soaked in every last bit of golden light as the sun dipped behind the cliffs.

This is what I love most about elopements. It’s not just about the epic landscapes (though those are always incredible). It’s about the experience. The connection. The moments that make you feel fully present and completely yourself. And when you have a photographer who feels like an old friend, it makes the whole journey that much more meaningful.

Getting Ready at the Dreamiest Airbnb Near Smith Rock

Their Airbnb was right next to Smith Rock State Park, and let me tell you—my jaw hit the floor when I walked in. I legit thought, Did I just step into my dream home?! Warm desert tones, stunning design, and the most incredible panoramic views of the high desert—plus farm animals! It was the perfect space for a relaxed, intimate wedding morning. I love capturing getting ready photos and feel this portion of the day often gets overlooked. I believe it’s a really special time to capture the emotions leading up to the ceremony—the anticipation, the quiet in-between moments, the deep breaths before stepping into forever. It’s all part of the story.

Saying ‘I Do’ at Smith Rock State Park

After getting ready photos at their rad Airbnb we headed to Smith Rock State Park for their ceremony with family and friends! Smith Rock is one of those places that feels almost otherworldly—towering red rock formations, golden desert landscapes, and the Crooked River winding through the canyon. It’s a dream location for an elopement or intimate wedding, and it fit Kiley and Garrett’s adventurous spirits perfectly.

Their ceremony took place at the amphitheater with epic views of the canyon walls. As the sun started dipping lower, the light turned into that soft, golden glow that makes everything feel extra romantic.

After their vows, we explored the park for sunset portraits, and wow—this place is unreal at golden hour. The rugged cliffs, soft desert hues, and winding trails created the perfect backdrop for their post-ceremony adventure. It was a beautiful ceremony officiated by Wendy Duncan who is from Bend.
