Jessica and Derek’s Campground Forest Elopement in Trinidad California
Jessica and Derek were originally planning a big wedding in Oregon with views of Mt. Hood in the distance, but like many of my couples in 2020 they were forced to make other plans. They still wanted to involve their family so they decided to get married in Trinidad, California which is closer to their home. They have always loved camping and anything outdoors so they stayed at the Emerald Forest Cabins & Campground and had their intimate ceremony there. It’s a gorgeous location with surrounding Redwood trees and perfect for families. It’s close to town, the beach, and there are tons of hiking trails nearby. An ideal spot for a forest elopement!
We started with getting ready photos in their cute cabins and then did a first look outside. One of my favorite moments of the day is when couples see each other for the first time. It always makes me smile. It’s a nice opportunity to have a private moment before the ceremony and helps shake off the jitters. Then we walked to a nearby campsite for their ceremony nestled in the trees. It was sweet and simple. Exactly what they had envisioned for their wedding day.
After their ceremony in the campground we drove to Redwoods National Park to explore the forest and enjoy some quality time alone together. We decided to adventure around Prairie Creek State Park since it was close to their campground. It such an incredible location with tons of hiking trails and secret spots to avoid the crowds. It can be popular there in the summer but we managed to find plenty of private areas to connect with each other and nature.
After our adventure in the forest we headed to the beach in Trinidad for sunset, popped some champagne, and watched the surfers catch some waves. This is one my my favorite locations on the coast of Northern California. A locals spot with a chill vibe and epic views of the ocean.
