Tilly Jane A-Frame Intimate Wedding in Mt. Hood National Forest Oregon

Lindsay and Bradley love spending a majority of their time in the outdoors — particularly hiking, backpacking, and going on snowshoeing trips to Tilly Jane A-Frame in Mt. Hood National Forest. Tilly Jane has always been such a special place for them and a big part of their lives. They knew it was where they wanted to commit the rest of their lives to each other and share that special place with their family and close friends.

Driving up to Tilly Jane is an adventure in itself! It’s a long winding, gravel road taking you through lush forest and opening up towards the top with incredible views of Mt. Hood. Mt. Hood is the tallest mountain in Oregon and the fourth tallest in the Cascade Range. It’s a 2-3 hour drive from Portland where the major airport is located in Oregon. Portland is a fun city with an eclectic vibe. Incredible farm-to-table restaurants, craft breweries, and dog friendly establishments. I always joke that I eat and drink my way through Portland! The creativity in the city is overflowing and is such a great starting point when traveling to Oregon for your elopement.

There are two ways to get to the Tilly Jane cabin. You can drive through the Columbia River Gorge scenic area and enjoy the river and endless waterfalls and take a pit stop in Hood River. Or you can head around the southern side of the mountain driving thought Mt. Hood Village and Government Camp. It’s kinda hard to choose between both, so if you have time I recommend creating a road trip to experience the entire circle! There are tons of amazing vistas, hiking trails, cabins, and yummy restaurants to enjoy along the way. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or advice needed!

After their getting ready photos it was time for their ceremony with family and friends. So we headed outside the cabin and had the sweetest ceremony in the chilly temps! We all laughed and cried. It was wonderful to witness the love between these two and the love they shared with their loved ones. To experience all of this in the forest on the edge of Mt. Hood felt incredible. Tilly Jane A-Frame is a special place and I’m so grateful I was able to experience it with this lovely group of folks!

It was pretty chilly so everyone headed back inside the cabin to warm up by the fire, have a drink, and mingle! Then I took the newlyweds off into the forest for some photos and to enjoy some alone time. I always love sharing this special time with my couples after the ceremony. It gives you an opportunity to slow down, connect, and have a chance to create some special moments with each other in private.

Lindsay and Bradley decided to get donuts instead of cake and I absolutely loved that idea. So we did a little donut feeding! Such a fun idea and another reminder that you can do whatever you want on your wedding day! Amazing donuts from Blue Star Donuts in Portland!

Amazing vendors!

  1. This blog is stunning! I’ve always wanted to visit Portland, and Oregon in general. One day I will, but for now I am living vicariously through this blog post. Just gorgeous pictures. Love the A frame house and arch! My favorite shot has to be the classic kiss right in front of the arch. Just perfect. You did a beautiful job :)
