Intimate Adventure Elopement in Maui Hawaii
Adam originally planned to propose to Louis in Hawaii (little did he know at the time), but unfortunately, the pandemic had other plans. Just five days before their trip, they were forced to cancel their plans. To make up for the trip they had lost, that summer, they spent a lot of time outdoors near their house in Chicago. One morning during a staycation, they were planning to get coffee and treats and Adam surprised Louis with an intimate proposal over a picnic with their pup. It was perfect. Even though their original Hawaii proposal didn’t work out the way they hoped it would, they recognized that this intimate moment between just the two of them was so special–and so they decided to elope in Maui!
The day of their elopement, we met at a cute little fruit stand in Maui. Adam and Louis really love food and cooking together at home, and they wanted to incorporate that into their day somehow. The two of them shared some coconuts and we hung out for a bit before heading to our next location. When shooting elopements, I love visiting multiple locations to give my couples plenty of variety in their photos and it adds to the adventure! If you have something specific in mind, whether it be a coconut stand, cooking brekkie at your Airbnb together, or a tropical jungle. I’m always down to make it happen!
Next up was Honolua Jungle, which is a really unique location in Maui. It’s a special spot and I love taking my couples there. The massive trees are covered in lush vines and you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale.
After we explored the jungle, we went to our next spot, which is my best kept Maui secret. It’s a bit further away but totally worth it! Located on the northwest side of the island, you’ll find rolling green hills with epic cliffside views overlooking the north shore of Maui. One of the things I love most about this spot is that it’s so unique for Hawaii and whenever I bring couples here, we always have it to ourselves.
It was here that Adam and Louis had their ceremony. As their officiant, I held space for them to privately say their vows to one another. It was so special, and I’m always so grateful to be a part in those moments.
After they finished their vows and ceremony, we hung out and watched the most beautiful Maui sunset. It was definitely an adventure elopement I’ll never forget!

After exploring the jungle we headed to their secluded ceremony location. They read their vows to each other, laughed, cried, and we had the best time taking in all the beauty Maui provides.

Eloping in North Shore Maui
On the northwest side of Maui, you’ll find beautiful undeveloped beaches and rugged shores for miles and miles. Well-known for its natural beauty and epic surf breaks, here you’ll also find the small towns of Kapalua and Napili.
Where to Explore: Honolua Jungle & Northwest Maui
On the way to Honolua Bay, you’ll find a short trail that brings you to the beach. This trail is shaded with huge trees and vines making you feel as though you’ve been transported to a secret jungle in some far off place. Ceremonies aren’t permitted here, but I love taking my elopement couples here for a bit to enjoy the beauty! Then we can head to Ironwoods Beach or one of my secret spots in Northwest Maui!
When to Elope: Spring, Fall, and Winter
Although Maui’s weather is pretty consistent year round, if you prefer fewer crowds and more affordable prices, I recommend spring and fall. However, winter is also one of my favorite times to escape the cold climate in the Pacific Northwest soooo if you’re planning an elopement then let’s do it!
